Trail Work Continues at Cushing Conservation Area
As part of our trail development initiative, the Land Trust kicked off spring with a work day at the Cushing Conservation Area on Chestnut Street. In partnership with our friends from the Seekonk Scout Troops, we hope to continue to spread woodchips on current trails and blaze a new trail through the preserve.
Led by Jessie Blackledge, SLCT Stewardship Coordinator, 20 volunteers used wheelbarrows, rakes, shovels and a tractor to spread donated wood chips. Many areas with invasive plants were covered with tarps to eradicate the vegetation and prevent their spread along the newly planned path.
Many thanks to local arborists Wade Pezullo (WP Tree of Rumford) and Dylan Harley (DBH Industrees of Seekonk) for donating and delivering wood chips! Thanks to all for supporting this project, and please contact us to donate your unwanted wood chips!
